Fees For U.S. Visas Payable at Piraeus Bank From December 1
Athens (November 24, 2003) – The U. S. Embassy in Athens is streamlining its process for paying visa application fees for travel to the United States. As of December 1, 2003 applicants will pay their application fees before their visa interview at any Piraeus Bank, which has branch offices throughout Greece. The visa application fee is currently $100 or about 90 Euros. Once paid, the fee is good for one year regardless of changes in the exchange rate.
On the day of their visa interview, an applicant must bring a paid receipt from a Piraeus Bank that shows their name as it appears in their passport. The payment receipt is valid for one year. Payments are not transferable between applicants, and the fee cannot be refunded. The closest Piraeus Bank to the U.S. Embassy is located at 41 Kifissias Blvd, Ambelokipi, next to the President Hotel.
By paying ahead of their visa interview, applicants will avoid long lines at the embassy and be able to complete this part of the visa process at a time of their convenience. The direct-pay method through banks is standard at most other U.S. embassies in the European Union and the world.
The U.S. Embassy in Greece will continue to offer walk-in visa services for same-day interviews and visa processing. For further information, please contact the Non-Immigrant Visa Section at the U.S. Embassy at 210-720-2445 between 3 and 5 P.M. Complete information regarding the U.S. visa process is available on the U.S. Embassy’s web page at www.usembassy.gr.
