US Consulate and Embassy donate to American Farm School

January 26, 2007
American Farm School Thessaloniki

U.S. Embassy in Athens and the U.S. Consulate General in Thessaloniki donated a large quantity of valuable equipment to the students and staff of the American Farm School that will serve the educational and agricultural programs of the School.

The American Farm school is a highly respected educational and philanthropic institution in Northern Greece.

Trucks, tractors, and other agricultural and road maintenance vehicles and their spare parts; dormitory and office furnishings; computer equipment; and weight training equipment for the gymnasium that were formerly used by the Voice of America broadcasting unit have been donated to the AFS. The gift of equipment will meet a multitude of needs of the boarding school and large educational farm.

These are a few examples: Students constructing a new greenhouse and cultivating the student gardens throughout the winter and spring months are helped by the new John Deere tractor that is now at their disposal. Much-needed computers and printers are now functioning in the high school administration offices.

Refrigeration equipment is serving the farm production units. Mowers and road maintenance equipment help staff to keep the School's large residential campus in the best condition.

Furniture is available to meet the needs of the dormitories for high school students and for students of the Dimitris Perrotis College. Students are grateful for new weight lifting equipment for their workouts in the gymnasium. A fire truck and other safety equipment ensure the well being of all students and staff who live in the School community.
