On May 20, a group of new and aspiring business people attended a seminar co-organized by the Consulate and the Young Entrepreneurs of Thessaloniki (YET) on “Entrepreneurship in Periods of Crisis: Technology and the Balkans”.  The seminar was led by Vassilis Takas, one of northern Greece’s most successful businessmen, who runs a venture capital fund a business incubator and has strong business ties to the U.S.   The speaker discussed the keys to entrepreneurial success in the current crisis, as well as the causes of the global economic crisis and how the crisis has affected the Greek economy.   He provided the audience with examples of entrepreneurial opportunities in the Balkans, in the sectors of energy, environmental technology, food, information technology, logistics, and tourism.
