Liberation of the City of Karditsa

 

On March 16, CG Yee attended the ceremonies honoring the liberation of the City of Karditsa from Nazi occupation in Karditsa, Thessaly in 1943.   

According to city officials, Karditsa was the first city in Europe to be liberated from Nazi occupation.  The campaign in Thessaly was fought by the Greek People’s Liberation Army throughout the period of Greek Resistance until February 1945.
