Launch of the New Website Mosaiko.gr

Athens (January 18, 2007) - The U.S. Embassy in Athens is pleased to announce the launch Μosaiko.gr, a website dedicated to the interconnection of the cultures of Greece and America.  From the arts to technology, sports to education and new media, Greeks and Americans have created a network of ties–a mosaic of ties–that enlighten, teach, enliven, and change the world in positive ways.  Mosaiko.gr aims to illuminate and enhance these ties through interviews, articles, and direct interaction with our visitors, using relatively new web technologies such as blogs, podcasts, and RSS feeds.

Mosaiko.gr offers regularly updated feature articles, a calendar of upcoming and current cultural events, and a section of articles that each month will focus on a specific theme.  One of the most exciting features on Mosaiko.gr is the Dialogos section, the communication hub between our users and our site.  Many of our features are both in English and Greek and we will make every effort to have additional Greek content on this site.

Currently, in the Features section, Mosaiko.gr hosts an interview with Michael Matteas, a designer of computer games, who recently presented his award-winning game, Façade, at the Medi@terra festival in Athens. Our first Focus is on New Media and the ways they are transforming civil participation. Other Mosaiko.gr features on this initial rollout include an interview with Greek bloggers, and downloadable audio interviews (podcasts) with a Greek-American poet and two jazz musicians.

Please take a look at Mosaiko.gr and tell us what you think. We look forward to your feedback and participation.
