U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum Official Speaks at American Consulate General in Thessaloniki
April is Holocaust Remembrance Month
The American Consulate General in Thessaloniki hosted a presentation by Dr. Radu Ioanid, director of the International Archival Program Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. Mr. Ioanid, who was in Greece to meet with museum and archives officials, spoke about the Holocaust and his research to an engaged audience.

Radu Ioanid was born and grew up in Bucharest, Romania, and is now a U.S. Citizen. He studied at the University of Bucharest; at the University of Luj, where he received a Ph.D.; and at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris, where he received a doctorate in history. He is the author of The Holocaust in Romania: The Destruction of Jews and Gypsies Under the Antonescu Regime, 1940-1944 and The Sword of the Archangel: Facist Ideology in Romania, as well as numerous articles and contributions to collections of essays. Dr. Ioanid has been a Starkoff Fellow at the American Jewish Archives and is now associate director of the International Programs Division of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum.
