Recital of Classic Guitar to Take Place at the Hellinic-American Union

-- A series of music performances taking place in Athens with the support of the American Embassy

Athens (January 19, 2006) -- Renowned American classical guitarist William Feasley will perform works by Jean Baptiste Loeillet, Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, Jose Lezcano, and Peter Madlem, in the auditorium of the Hellenic-American Union (HAU,) at 8:30 p.m., on Thursday, January 26.   

Feasley made his debut in 1980.  He is distinguished for his virtuosity and his unique musical style, which have brought him various awards, including the 1996 Governor’s Citation for Outstanding Achievements in the Arts in Maryland, and the 1990 and 1995 Baltimore Chamber Music Awards.

Entrance to the public is free, on a first-come first-served basis.  Those interested in the recital can call the HAU, on 210-368-0900.

More cultural events are forthcoming:  The Agora Latin Jazz Quartet, a genuine representative of Afro-Caribbean music, will perform at the HAU, on Tuesday,

February 7.  The Quartet is a U.S. State Department “Jazz Ambassador for 2005.” Also, on Monday, February 20, the 40-member Eastern Star Church Gospel Choir will perform in the context of the Black History Month commemoration organized by the American Embassy.
