"Security and Transatlantic Relations in the Broader Middle East" was the theme of the discussion organized by the American Consulate General and the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce on Friday, April 8, 2005. Guest speaker Ian Lesser, Onassis Visiting Fellow at the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP) in Athens through June 2005, addressed a group of businessmen, academics and journalists and discussed current issues pertaining to the broader Middle East. Dr. Lesser is currently the President of Mediterranean Advisors, LLC, Senior Scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, DC, and an adjunct staff member at RAND.

While in Thessaloniki, Ian Lesser spoke to students of the University of Macedonia and of the American College of Thessaloniki and addressed an audience of 230 military officers at the Higher War College.
