9th Annual American Studies Seminar

In its 9th consecutive year, the American Studies Seminar, organized by the American Consulate General and the University of Macedonia,
with the support of the Thessaloniki Municipality, took place at the Thessaloniki Municipal Library from April 10-15, 2006.
This year’s theme was "Hard Realities and Soft Power: Global Politics and Transnational Culture, 1945-2006."
115 participants had the opportunity to attend a one-week interdisciplinary course on post World War II America with lectures, panel discussions and movie showings on American civilization, culture, politics, society and the economy.
On the last day of the Seminar, Deputy Chief of Mission Thomas Countryman spoke to the students about "The International Picture: Looking Ahead" and analyzed the US Government’s positions on current foreign policy issues.
