Tax Assistance For U.S. Citizens Resident in Greece
Athens (February 11, 2005) -- The Embassy of the United States of America announces that an American tax assistor of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will be in Athens March 10, 2005 to March 16, 2005 to answer tax questions for U.S. citizens. The official will be available at the Embassy from 08:30 - 13:00 and 13:45 - 15:30 daily. She will see the public on an appointment basis in the American Citizen Services Section.
The rate of exchange for 2004 tax returns is $1.00 to Euro 0,8051.
Unfortunately 1040 packages have not arrived yet. They are expected any day now. The Embassy can provide a list of private tax preparers for help in filling out a return. To download tax forms and file electronically you can visit the following web sites: http://www.irs.gov/ or http://www.firstgov.gov/
