Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Elie Wiesel was the key note speaker during ceremonies organized by the Jewish Community of Thessaloniki to honor the memory of the Greek Jews killed in Nazi concentration camps during WWII and the establishment of a Holocaust Memorial Day (January 27) in Greece.
US Ambassador to Athens Thomas Miller and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Elie Wiesel laid wreaths at the Jewish Holocaust Monument.  Wreaths were also laid by Prefect of Thessaloniki Panagiotis Psomiadis, Parliament Deputy Sotiris Kouvelas representing main opposition party of New Democracy, City Councilor Theodoros Aspasidis representing the Mayor of Thessaloniki, Central Jewish Council President Moses Constantinis, the German Ambassador and the Consuls General of France and Russia.
