International Women's Day - International Women of Courage Award
On March 5, 2008, the U.S. Consulate General in Thessaloniki honored Kilkis Prosecutor Irene Chrysogianni who was nominated by the U.S. Mission to Greece for the 2008 Secretary's Award for International Women of Courage. Consul General Yee presented her with a certificate signed by United States Ambassador to Greece Daniel Speckhard.
Dr. Theofano Papazisi, Aristotle University Professor of Civil Law spoke about violence directed against women, from ancient to modern times and the efforts to protect victims.
Ms. Chrysogianni thanked the Consul General and the U.S. mission to Greece for honoring her with this nomination.
